March 20th, 2019 – The day has come where it is time to celebrate the accomplishments of the fifth class of PSEG’s Ready2Work program! Over the past few weeks, participants have gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience of the construction trades. This class marks the conclusion of the Ready2Work apprenticeship readiness training program, a $600 thousand-dollar private investment in the residents of the City of Bridgeport. This pre-apprenticeship program provides Bridgeport residents with free training to prepare them for high-paying local union apprenticeships. Participants get a chance to see what working in a trade is like for 7 weeks and graduate with valuable trade certifications. One graduate commented on how much she valued the experience the Ready2Work program provided her and her classmates: “Other people that are applying [to the local trades] don’t get to have the same hands-on experience as

While no leprechauns were in sight this past weekend, there was an abundance of community members who came out in support of the 2019 annual Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Friday, March 13th, 2019, marked the 36th year of the Bridgeport’s St. Patrick’s Day tradition and PSEG is proud to sponsor this long-standing community event. We are also excited to support Grand Marshal and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 488 (488 I.B.E.W) union manager, Peter Carroll.

On Tuesday, February 26th the 5th annual Great Shehan Trivia Contest came back to the Bridgeport Holiday Inn for an exciting evening of knowledge teasers! Congratulations to first place winner Santa Energy, second place winner Tauck Tours and third place winner Aquarion Water Company. The Great Shehan Trivia Contest replaced the Great Shehan Spelling Bee which helped to raise money for the center and while creating great memories for all those involved over the past 20 years. Funds raised from the Great Shehan Trivia Contest will be used to continue the Centers After School and Saturday Program. Congratulations to this year’s winners! PSEG is overjoyed to be part of such an exciting and memorable event that helps to create a better future for Bridgeport’s younger residents.

PSEG’s dedication to the Bridgeport community and its residents is at the helm of every initiative we are involved in. We are proud to support LifeBridge Community Services and their Community Closet which offers services to Bridgeport residents in need. The Community Closets provides women and children with free clothing as well as free baby furniture to ensure that residents have the resources to live better. LifeBridge Community Services (LifeBridge) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people in the Greater Bridgeport area to build a brighter future. The goal of LifeBridge is to move them from crisis to stability, and to greater levels of self-sufficiency. They define the need. LifeBridge delivers the programs to meet the need.
