On Monday, July 29, 2019, Bridgeport and state officials gathered at PSEG’s Bridgeport Harbor Station Unit #5 to “Flip that Switch”. The flip of an oversized light switch symbolized the official opening of PSEG’s natural gas-powered Bridgeport Harbor Station 5. PSEG Power Connecticut began construction of the clean, natural gas-fired plant in 2017. The plant represents an investment of more than $550 million and needed energy supply to the Connecticut region. The 485-megawatt combined-cycle plant went online and available to provide energy to thousands of homes and businesses in Connecticut on June 25, 2019. The natural gas-powered Bridgeport Harbor Station 5 delivers on this vision with one of the lowest carbon footprints per megawatt of energy produced among all PSEG Power’s fossil units. As part of the Bridgeport community, PSEG is involved in one of the city’s longest-standing traditions, the Barnum Festival. PSEG employees have proudly participated in and supported the Barnum Festival for over 30 years and we are pleased to congratulate Frank Gennarini, who was selected to be the 2020 Barnum Ringmaster for the Barnum Festival. The annual Barnum Festival is a seasonal celebration of the City of Bridgeport and its surrounding towns, including Monroe, Trumbull, Easton, Shelton, Stratford, and Fairfield. The Barnum Festival strives to create economic development and education by driving visitors, developing entrepreneurs and civic leaders, and engaging the community's youth and families. PSEG is honored to be able to keep the traditions of Bridgeport alive as a part of the local community.
