One Year Later…
It has been one year since we ‘flipped the switch’ on Bridgeport Harbor Station Unit 5. The new state-of-the-art high-efficiency combined-cycle Unit 5 power plant has enabled PSEG to support the Bridgeport region’s electricity needs for years to come. BHS Unit 5 represents the most efficient power plant in the PSEG fossil fleet; displacing higher-emitting units in the region’s power markets and supporting electric system reliability. This, in conjunction with the retirement of the half a century old Unit 3 coal plant in 2021, puts PSEG and Bridgeport Harbor on track towards a more environmentally sustainable future. Since its announcement in 2016, a Community Benefits Agreement (CEBA) was put into place to ensure the objectives of Connecticut’s Environmental Justice Act and the city of Bridgeport were met.
