It has been one year since we ‘flipped the switch’ on Bridgeport Harbor Station Unit 5. The new state-of-the-art high-efficiency combined-cycle Unit 5 power plant has enabled PSEG to support the Bridgeport region’s electricity needs for years to come. BHS Unit 5 represents the most efficient power plant in the PSEG fossil fleet; displacing higher-emitting units in the region’s power markets and supporting electric system reliability. This, in conjunction with the retirement of the half a century old Unit 3 coal plant in 2021, puts PSEG and Bridgeport Harbor on track towards a more environmentally sustainable future. Since its announcement in 2016, a Community Benefits Agreement (CEBA) was put into place to ensure the objectives of Connecticut’s Environmental Justice Act and the city of Bridgeport were met. PSEG is proud to be a platinum level sponsor for Homes for the Brave’s (HFTB) Step Out for the Brave event. For more than 115 years, PSEG and its employees have been giving back to the communities where they live and work. For this event, PSEG has donated pre-paid slots to the Step Out for the Brave 40,000 Step Virtual Challenge in August. These paid slots cover 15 complimentary registrations for the Bridgeport, Connecticut organization. Each registration for the event helps HFTB continue its mission to house homeless veterans and to support the staff that makes this possible. PSEG’s generous contribution will also fund staffing needs for the event as well as event t-shirts. A larger team of staff and participants are expected for this year’s Step Out for the Brave event.
