5th Ready 2 Work Graduation
March 20th, 2019 – The day has come where it is time to celebrate the accomplishments of the fifth class of PSEG’s Ready2Work program! Over the past few weeks, participants have gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience of the construction trades. This class marks the conclusion of the Ready2Work apprenticeship readiness training program, a $600 thousand-dollar private investment in the residents of the City of Bridgeport.
This pre-apprenticeship program provides Bridgeport residents with free training to prepare them for high-paying local union apprenticeships. Participants get a chance to see what working in a trade is like for 7 weeks and graduate with valuable trade certifications. One graduate commented on how much she valued the experience the Ready2Work program provided her and her classmates:
“Other people that are applying [to the local trades] don’t get to have the same hands-on experience as we do thanks to this program and that means a lot when you’re trying to get in.”
PSEG, our teachers and local union representatives are sad to see the end of the Ready2Work program but are astounded by its success and impact on Bridgeport residents over the past 14 months. Thank you to all our participants for your hard work and dedication and congratulations to class number 5 on all your accomplishments!
