Celebrating Climate Week!
Climate change is a reality our planet faces every day, but we have the power to change that! Raising awareness about the reality of climate change is essential in the earth’s preservation for years to come and PSEG is doing our part to get involved. Last week The Discovery Museum and Planetarium hosted Climate Week, a week-long series dedicated to raising awareness of climate change, from April 15th to April 20th leading up to Earth Day on April 22nd. PSEG is proud to have been able to contribute to such a great event!
The Discovery Museum’s Climate Week included shows, activities and presentations for children and families. Over the course of the week those who attended learned about the Importance of native pollinators, stormwater, erosion and engineering, sources of climate change, sea level rise, the role of emerging technology such as solar and wind energy as well as energy storage in fighting climate change. PSEG representatives Jim Gilroy and Kathleen Donovan made presentations on PSEG’s transition to cleaner energy and power generation for Electric Vehicles. Those who came for Tuesday’s events and presentations even got a special visit from Sesame Street’s Super Grover!
Here at PSEG we are doing our part to save the planet and stop climate change which is why we’re retiring coal and making the switch to natural gas, a cleaner and more efficient energy source. We are looking forward to celebrating the completion of Bridgeport Harbor Station Unit 5, an environmentally sustainable combined cycle plant due to go online this summer.
