PSEG Honored By United Way of Coastal Fairfield County
“Wherever PSEG lives, we aim to give back to the community we serve,” stated Karl Wintermeyer, Operations Manager for PSEG’s Bridgeport Harbor Station as he reacted to some exciting news. On May 23, 2017, PSEG and its employees were honored by United Way of Coastal Fairfield County with the Norman Leeds Giving Back to the Community Award at the 2017 LIVE UNITED Celebration.
This prestigious award is named after Norman Leeds, an exceptional United Way volunteer whose passion for his community is unparalleled. The LIVE UNITED Celebration offers thanks to the amazing businesses, community partners and volunteers whose sustained involvement and financial generosity supports United Way’s efforts in improving the lives of at-risk children and families across the region.
PSEG was recognized for its outstanding performance in the 2016-2017 workplace campaign, which enabled them to raise $3.8M. The funds will assist United Way in tackling the effects of poverty on children and families, confront educational inequality in Coastal Fairfield County, break down barriers that keep children from reaching their full potential and inspire youth to pursue their dreams.
United Way of Coastal Fairfield County is one of many local organizations PSEG has helped to further community initiatives and improve quality of life. Along with United Way, PSEG contributed to the annual Bridgeport Barnum Festival, the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), the Police Athletic League (PAL) and other small-scale community efforts.
